Hi Bloggers
Just here eating some toast funny thing on the TV.
Apparently you can now send a text for your complaint to a hospital and and they will text you back within
an Hour.
This lady on the telly is well impressed and stated " Its Great to know that your concerns are getting personal attention".
Not for me to dismiss our wonderful NHS but it did make me think for a while.
And these are my own views and conclusions.
You could and always should raise concerns on the ward "If you can get the ear of any member of nursing care" my own experience of this is not so good, Understaffed Wards, Nurses changing and cleaning beds,Nurses serving meals.
Then there is always a Ward Doctor who is probably on a 24 hour shift, Overworked and looking after far to many patients.
Add all the time restraints as ill people are only allowed to be in a certain area for a set amount of time these are set as bed targets.
These staff have little to no time to talk to family or friends regarding patient health.
You could raise a concern by letter, This will result in a ward manager and a complaint investigator sitting with you saying how sorry they are and how changes have happened and they have introduced comfort rounds every half hour, loads of verbal apology, Blah Blah Blah then some meeting notes will be issued to you and that's the end of it.
The new text Gimmick, Send us a text and a computer will send one back, Not had any experience so can not comment but can only assume that above will happen.
You could tell his Hospital Social Worker. Own experience on this one, Grandads social worker who would attend these wards everyday never experienced what we have seen the food the neglect all his multiple falls, the unsuitable ward as stated by the hospital.
My own opinion on this When a Hospital social worker is actively ignoring issues that the same hospital have acknowledged is this a person to be trusted to raise issues with.
Final Thoughts
Policy and Procedure is there to be followed but when under staffing and ignorance to surroundings exist there will never be change.
The Government are complaining about we are all living longer and the problems are far to many old people taking up beds.
This is simply not true sick elderly people used to spend there last few years in community hospitals although not always ideal these elderly would normally sadly die there.
Most if not all of these have been closed.
This creates a loop of elderly people when ill being shifted from private run care homes into hospital and return
Care in the community is a great idea promote self worth and independence with a small amount of support from carers.
This creates the same loop if an elderly person is continually unwell.
This is the reason why hospitals are overstretched when it comes to elderly care and nothing else.
And the new problem from the government and NHS we should be watching is those disabled children and adults that are living longer than they should be, How dare this be acceptable.
What is the world coming to
