Care worker jailed for abusing elderly care home residents

This is fantastic news, but us good folk at Social Services & NHS Reform have just a couple of issues.
Why was this man allowed to get away with this behavior for so long and where were the elderly peoples Social Workers.
Some social workers are also the providers of neglect and abuse to our vulnerable adults / Children and should also be accountable to the law of the UK.
When the abuser is the County Council to whom do you report the abuse.
Where it comes to gathering evidence the ineptitude of this council is astounding and it is shame that the press in this country are not willing to publish cases prior to court action.
More transparency that's the whats required.

Kyle Smallwood, 24, was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of ill-treating or willfully neglecting dementia sufferers at the care home where he worked.
The abuse took place at the 30-bed dementia care unit at Bradwell Hall Nursing Home in Staffordshire between 2010 and 2011.
Smallwood, from Tunstall, admitted to manhandling a woman in her 90s picking her up off a chair and dropping her onto a bed; deliberately flicking food onto an elderly woman’s face while feeding her; shouting in the face of a female resident; and dousing an elderly man with cold water in the bath.
Bradwell Hall suspended Smallwood after colleagues reported his abuses. He was sacked in May 2011.
Judge Paul Glenn told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court he hoped Smallwood’s jail sentence served as a 'deterrent' to others, saying: "The residents were extremely vulnerable, not least because they couldn't complain.
Det Con Mark Burslem said: "The nature of the incident was extremely distressing which affected some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
"This sends a clear message to our communities that we will not tolerate or accept this kind of treatment by carers of the vulnerable."
Bradwell Hall Nursing Home, in Old Hall Drive, Bradwell, is privately owned but has some places funded by Staffordshire County Council.
Liz Staples, cabinet member for adults' wellbeing, said: "When dealing with people in residential care it can be sometimes difficult to gather all the evidence needed for a successful prosecution.
"In this instance we were absolutely convinced there was a case to answer and pushed hard for this to be taken to court."
No-one from the care home was available for comment.
