Not For Profit Care Homes Update

Hi Blogg Buddies

I think I am living in some parallel universe this evening it appears that the staffing issues at grandads care home and all the respect issues had all been resolved before the 10th of this month and that all staff levels are adequate and all shifts covered and plenty of interaction with the elderly ?

So yesterday when the social worker and myself and mother were at this home and went through multiple issues, these were still ongoing specifically in relation to Staff levels and food intake monitoring.

So good news the Care Quality Commission say that the staffing is fine and the only outstanding issues surround incomplete care files that do not reflect the patients requirements and medical need and that nutrition is ok.

These only place the resident at minor risk ?

So no record of what amount an elderly person has eaten is ok

The recruitment issue is still not resolved which has meant that the existing staff have decided to have a meeting with the home owner regarding staffing and structure at the home 4 days after the CQC say issues are fine.

Rome was not built in a day and change takes time.

However the CQC decision in this assessment is a Sham and is providing the owner a false impression that things are fine when they are obviously not.

This gives me no faith in a system that should be there to ensure compliance and safety.

I do not wish this home to close and change is needed but in my own opinion where these serious care plans exist they must be complete, Medical Need,Food & Fluids, Falls.

I pray that these matter get resolved for the sake of the residents.

I wish he was still home.

Steve
