Gave up my home my job to be a carer 41 and failed marriage failed
relationships even failed my own farther, and now accused of Abuse
Neglect and theft Nothing else left to lose.
Don't know how long I stood there but turned around to see a motor cyclist , Only A young lad all he said was "You look like you need someone to talk to"
All my sodding luck an of duty copper, we talked for some time he pointed out some flowers attached to the railings, Sum poor sod had jumped off, he convinced me to go home and wanted to get me a lift.
How could someone who did not even know me care, We talked about my Grandfather, Mother.
I walked home it was so cold and so far no coat tired and disturbed.
In the morning had two police officers at the door they gave me a lecture on life lol
Went to see my GP still feeling ambivalent to life, and put on A cocktail of drugs to calm me down and A referral to a Nut Nurse, Joking apart they helped a little just enough to alleviate the feelings of killing myself.
We had also due the alleged abuse etc being informed that our Grandfather would be placed back where he had broken his hip for his protection.
We continued to visit and were chaperoned and listened to by staff on every visit, He appeared yet again very sedated.
We pushed again for assesment of his mental health and were informed by a comunity pshciatcric nurse that he was not happy with his apparent sedation.
He was now being given doses of medication which was turning him into a Zombie he could not even lift his own head could not even speak.
We requested that he see the doctor, At his appointment his medication was doubled which caused him to get worse.
Many months passed by and no feed back on the initial abuse/negect and theft investigation.
We were requested to meet with the local home and his yet again new social workers who requested that we find a home we advised them that apparently he was placed in there care for protection and that as such we required the information regarding the investigation.
At a meeting again with the above the issue of funding was raised myself and familly expressed concerns as to why should this elderly man pay for the failings of the NHS and his care
We were told that if we did not pay it would be the care homes problem.
The following day I recived a phonecall telling me the investigation was over and that was it.
I requested the findings and was informed that they did not have to give us any, We asked for a meeting to discuss the alegations and was informed by the social worker and her boss that they did not need a meeting and if I wanted I could raise a complaint.
All we wanted to see was the family name cleared the reasons for our grandfarthers detainment for his safety and finally that a full investigation had been carried out.
The family filed a full complaint against Staffordshire County Council.
We Assisted the Social Services and finally accepted that he would need residential care A very sad time.
Grandad went into care, we then received a letter from the council advising that they required to undertake A Financial Assesment of his capital and income by phone and that I should be available at a fixed time and date.
The family had no intention of doing this a felt that it was inapropriate to do this and we informed them that this would have to be face to face as we wished to discuss bank accounts and payments required to be repaid.
Also we wanted to be made aware of all contributions etc to the carehome.
The assesment was held at my grandfarthers house as the family thought this would be to stressful to grandad.
All went well so we thought documents were agreed signed bank accounts were laid on the table to be seen the council assesor was happy and so was the local social worker who had asked if she could come to the meeting.
Two days passed and then I was asked by the financial officer to forward a full 12 months statements as seen in the house.
The following day A police officer came to my home and requested that I attend an interview under caution at Newcastle under Lyme Police Station.
I had been accused of theft from my grandfarther by another social worker from the hospital based on information from the social worker who had been at my home a couple of days earlier.
It was mine and my Grandfarthers joint account that was apparently in question and that I as appointee had removed money from my own account.
The monies were a mixture of mine and my grandfarthers and had been spent renovating his home bedroom fixing heating systems and property repair as explained to the financial assesor and social worker.
Found innocent of these false claims had to disclose all my bank accounts, savings, and expenditure also advised the police that all the neighbours could also account as to what the familly had done to get our grandfarther home.
All payments were going on time to the carehome we were providing his pocket monies and needs from a dedicated bank account which was also shown to the police.
Two weeks latter we contacted the DWP with regard to his payments and were told that we were no longer appointee and we should contact social services at staffordshire county council.
After yet again no returned phonecalls and emails were finally told that it was the police that recomended the action, Contacted the police and no such recomendation was made.
At no time did the DWP or the Staffordshire County Council discuss this with grandad or any of the family.
The new appointee then delayed in paying care home invoices and failed to provide funds for him so the family provided. Not to much can be said at pressent as Solicitor involved
